In commemoration of Black August, bassist and cultural practitioner Zwide Ndwandwe shares a special performance of his debut solo offering, radicis. radicis is a sonic lecture, focusing on the historical context and everlasting urgency of Black music. Influenced by the sounds and politics of musicians like Archie Shepp, D’Angelo and Busi Mhlongo, radicis argues that Black music is a phenomenon beyond genre, remaining crucial to the tradition of resistance for people in the African diaspora.
