Where music crowns the moment. Step into a world of timeless melodies, stirring rhythms and unforgettable musical moments as WelteClassic Serenade presents an afternoon of classical splendour in the heart of the West Rand. This fundraiser event aims to improve the lives and dignity of the community through food parcels and other poverty relief initiatives. It also gives community musicians a chance to give back to the community with their talents. More than an ordinary concert, WelteClassic Serenade has been designed as an experience for the senses. The majesty of the organ, the elegance of the piano and the richness of contemporary orchestral arrangements will be brought together by gifted local musicians. Atmospheric lighting, inspired by the glowing colours of a South African sunset, will transform the auditorium as the music moves from celebration and beauty to drama, reflection and triumph. The carefully curated programme will feature familiar favourites alongside a few unexpected musical surprises. Whether you have loved classical music for many years or are simply curious to experience it in a welcoming and accessible setting, this concert is for you. No specialist knowledge is required—only a willingness to sit back and allow the music to carry you. Guests can also look forward to the warm hospitality for which Weltevreden has become known. The final concert programme and featured works will be announced as they are confirmed. Currently confirmed musicians: Christo Bezuidenhout, JP van der Merwe, Dalene Hoogenhout, Werner Retief and singers and performers from the Tapestry Ensemble. Confirmed programme highlights include: Hallelujah (Shrek version) by Leonard Cohen - a well known favourite of young and old Baroque styled Largo from Vivaldi's Four Seasons (Winter) (1723) The graceful, lyrical beauty of Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Swan (1886). W.A. Mozart's playful spirit is masterfully shown in the lively – Rondo Alla Turca (1783) Vittorio Monti’s spirited and virtuosic Csárdás (1904) In his early 20's, Chopin wrote – Nocturne in E-flat Op. 9 No. 2 (1832) - showcasing lyrical melody and delicate ornamentation A medley of famous piano pieces demonstrating the instrument's ability to depict both intimacy and grandeur Another iconic masterpiece from the Baroque era, Toccata in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach (1704) Written in 1842 one of the most powerful choruses ever written, Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves by Giuseppe Verdi from the Opera Nabucco Conquest of Paradise (1992) by the Greek composer of modern anthems, Vangelis Further performers and musical selections will be announced as the programme unfolds: Join us for an inspiring afternoon in which great music, beautiful light and shared experience come together—and every note is given its moment to shine.
