Join us for dialogues and a culinary experience exploring Heritage Narratives, presented by TEDxJohannesburg in collaboration with Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture (AEPC). The programme is framed around the idea that art is a language that translates experience into shared meaning. Speakers and performers connect artistic expression to the stories we tell about ourselves: who we are, where we come from, and what we hope for. Together with AEPC, led by the Goethe-Institut, the dialogue explores heritage as a living practice shaped by memory, creativity, language, and exchange. Artists, writers, critics, collectors, historians, and poets from South Africa and beyond will share the stage, alongside a culinary experience in response to heritage as a narrative, foregrounding creativity as an indispensable tool for human connection and cultural dialogue. Heritage narratives are layered, contested, and unfinished, shaped by how histories are remembered and reimagined. What we inherit is never fixed: it depends on who has the power to tell and circulate stories, and whose voices have been left out. How do heritage narratives contradict or disrupt one another? What emerges in the spaces between “officially” documented history, family memory, artistic interpretation, and lived experience? And what happens when we begin to retell these stories from new perspectives? 1 September 2026 | WeWork, 155 West Street, Sandton | 12:00 to 15:00 Pitika Ntuli, Greg Maqoma, Nkhensani Mkhari, Chule the Love Activist, Shaman Chant, Noxolo Desire 3 September 2026 | The Forge, 87 De Korte Street, Braamfontein | 17:00 to 20:00 Thero Makepe, Mncedi Madolo, Belita Andre, Desiree Markgraff, Zviko Dryad R120 covers both events.
