Musical performance by all three Reddam House Western Cape Schools. Kafka … and the Doll Presented at The Star Theatre (Homecoming centre) Step into the extraordinary world of Franz Kafka in this original musical theatre production, inspired by the remarkable true story of Kafka’s final years. Kafka … and the Doll tells the story of Kafka’s encounter with a little girl in a Berlin park who has lost her beloved doll. Rather than telling her that the doll is gone, Kafka begins writing letters to her from the doll itself — creating an imaginative world of adventure, hope, loss and love. Featuring live musicians, newly written lyrics and an original script by Esmé van Dyk, this ambitious production brings Kafka’s world to life through music, drama, dance and visual storytelling . Performed by talented young artists from Western Cape Reddam House schools, the production explores childhood, imagination, identity, grief, love and the power of storytelling — while inviting audiences to see Kafka in a completely new light. A story about a writer, a little girl, a lost doll, and the extraordinary worlds we create when reality is not enough. Come experience Kafka … and the Doll.
