Discover The Unknown The Art of Longform Improv Montage - First of a Series with Thomas Dods Join Thomas Dods of The Improv Cart as we band together to find out how to take a single suggestion and turn it into a whole series of scenes. Through insightful feedback and live coaching, we’ll start to get a feel for what goes into longform and how to effectively navigate to process together. The montage is a good foundational format to start finding your feet in longform as it makes use of advanced concepts, but is more approachable than the more elaborate formats. This workshop is first of a series that will introduce approaches and techniques relevant to longform formats including: Embrace the ensemble : how to work effectively as a group and discover together. Think what’s possible : learn how one suggestion can inspire many ideas. Make the call : how to edit scenes with purpose and skill. Let it flow : how to manage the pacing and variety of scenes. Link them up : how to recognise patterns and link scenes to emerging themes. Roll the dice : how to make bold choices that surprise and delight. For improvisers who have experience in foundational principles and are curious to start exploring longform improv. These workshops are also good preparation for becoming familiar with longform concepts in anticipation of the upcoming House of Improv event that will be the same format and have opportunities for community member involvement. The session will include a 15 min break - bring a snack & water Ts&Cs for Photography/Videography during shows/classes/workshops: We want to show the world out there what awesome stuff we all get up to in our classes/shows - it really helps us grow the improv community ! 1.
