Two weeks before Carmen opens, Joburg Ballet opens its studio doors. Spend a Saturday morning watching the company at work on Veronica Paeper's Carmen—rehearsal, repetition, correction and the moments where a role starts to come alive. It's the version of ballet audiences never see: no set, no costumes, no orchestra, just the dancers, the studio and the work itself. Then see the finished production on the Mandela stage from 25 September 2026. When: Saturday, 12 September 2026, 10am–1pm Where: Joburg Ballet Studios, 26 Hoofd Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/SJrX5EqoDY65fBDL9 ) Parking: Free parking is available at the National School of the Arts, 3 Hoofd Street, across the road from the studios. Cost: R150 per person, unreserved seating Book in advance. Studio capacity is limited, and we expect to sell out. A small number of tickets may be available at the door on the day, subject to availability, but entry cannot be guaranteed without a ticket. Suitable for dance students, parents and anyone curious about how a ballet is built. Children welcome. Carmen runs at the Joburg Theatre from 25 September 2026 to 3 October 2026 and at the South African State Theatre, Pretoria, on 24 and 25 October 2026.
