A GENERATIVE CITY POETRY WALKSHOP FOR THE CURIOUS IN CAPE TOWN
Art & Culture
Sat, 12 Sept · 10:00 · Clarke's Bookshop
199 Long Street, , Cape Town City Centre

Come along with me (Tayla Paige) as we explore the city in Cape Town’s CBD through the immense lens of poetry. The streets are stamped with sensations and stories – along with spit and stompies – all begging to become a poem. Poetry Paths with Tayla Paige will begin at Clarke’s Bookshop on Long Street, where a group of us will warm up with good literature and coffee before meandering along the city streets. At some point, I will gift each participant a little Poetry Paths keepsake. The route emerges alongside city characters and curiosities that keep the senses alive, feeding your poetic sensibility. An ad hoc picnic will commence at Company Gardens, where I will guide you through a poetry writing process. Now, the external becomes internal, precious and possibly more alive. Once we are satisfied with what our pens put to paper, we will head to Book Lounge, where we will end the walkshop surrounded by yet more good books. Join the next walkshop for a morning of mingling, meandering and penning a new poem. You’ll get to meet fellow writers, see the city anew, enjoy the company of the city gardens, aaaaand you’ll receive a small token of the experience, handmade by me. Lunch and mingling are optional afterwards. The whole stint should take around 3 hours. All you need is a pen, water, comfy shoes, and a poetry niggle.
