EARLY BIRD TICKETS NOW ON SALE R150 until 14 October. This Christmas, the ghosts are coming to The Masque. Drawn directly from Dickens’ original novella and adapted for the stage by Jeff Johnson, A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story for Christmas follows Scrooge through the night that changes everything. This version stays true to Dickens, with touches of South Africa woven into the telling. Richard Higgs stars as Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside 28 young performers who take on more than 80 roles as Dickens’ world unfolds around him. Johnson, who directed The Masque’s 2025 production of Little Shop of Horrors , returns with a production that brings the story to life on stage without losing the spirit of the book. It is a ghost story, but it’s also A Christmas Carol . There’s humour and warmth, and at the very centre of it is a man being given one last chance. Recommended for ages 5+.
